Starting with the first day of school in January, I had a contract with one of my students. If he could behave well (this was spelled out and multiple conditions must be met) two days in a row I would make him homemade cookies. It took him until today to have two "good" days in a row. He was a little jerk yesterday being all disrespectful and sullen, but he got enough points, stayed out of ISS and the like. So I just finished a half batch of cookies and will be delivering his dozen cookies to him tomorrow morning.
This kid, like many of the others, have so many strikes against him. Unlike many of the others though, I believe he's got two parents who care about him and want him to succeed. And while I just want to strangle him sometimes, I am happy he finally made his two days giving me an excuse to make him cookies. I hope his next two good days in a row don't take so long come.
Here's the recipe if you like. I think they turned out well.

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
5. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.

Overall, the Woman's Committee had reason to be pleased with its contribution. There had been some opposition to the pledge. Rumors were rife.
As I've not gone through this book yet, I can't tell you much about it aside from what you might be able to infer from the title. I am hoping to use it (particularly anything about the Council of National Defense) in my research.
